Levi vs Beast Titan was the best fight in Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2. Levi and the Beast Titan were the two strongest people on the battlefield and it led to an epic clash.
The cinematography and animation in this fight were absolutely crazy.
Before delving into the fight, lets take look at the background of Levi and the Beast Titan:

Who is Beast Titan?
Beast Titan is one of the Nine Titans that is in the possession of Zeke Yeager. He is covered in fur and has an apelike appearance. He’s also over 17 meters tall.
Zeke Yeager is the war chief and Marley’s greatest weapon.
Beast Titan’s First Appearance
Beast Titan first appeared after Wall Rose was breached. Numerous titans were wandering around and he immediately stood out.
He was first spotted by Miche Zacharius, who is noted as being the second strongest behind Levi in terms of skill.
Beast Titan was first believed to be an abnormal titan. An abnormal titan is a titan that may possess unusual intelligence or may behave unpredictably.
However, he is able to show human level intelligence by grabbing a horse and throwing it directly at Miche. Furthermore, he’s able to speak.
He was able to command titans and use them to kill Miche.
Beast Titan Skills and Abilities
One of Beast Titan’s abilities is being able to speak. Other Titan shifters (ex. Reiner, Annie, Eren) are not able to do this in titan form.
Beast Titan also possesses amazing strength as he was able to beat Reiner as the Armored Titan in combat.
Beast Titan is able to use his long arms to swing projectiles (ex. rocks) with amazing accuracy.
One of the most powerful abilities Beast Titan possesses is his ability to control pure Titans. Beast Titan is able to use pure Titans as decoys and as a line of defense. He’s even able to control them at night.
Who is Levi?
Levi is the fearsome squad captain of the Special Operations Squad in the Survey Corps. He is the most skilled fighter in the Survey Corps and one of humanity’s greatest weapons against the titans.
He was born in the Underground District, an underground society where citizens rarely get to go into the sunlight. The underground district is a poverty stricken area and Levi was forced to survive by any means.
He was trained and taught how to fight and survive by Kenny the Ripper.
Levi’s Skills and Abilities
Levi has superhuman speed and extremely good fighting instincts.
Levi is an Ackerman. The Ackermans were once a family of warriors that protected the Reiss Royal family. Because of his bloodline, he is gifted with extraordinary ability.
Ackermans have a moment where they “awaken” and feel a sudden surge of strength rushed through them . This also awakens their fighting instincts.
This is why Mikasa and Levi are so strong.
Levi had an instance of this awakening when his close friends, Isabel and Furlan Church were viciously murdered by an abnormal titan.
Levi is so distraught and full of rage that he moves at lightning speed and slices the abnormal titan to pieces until finally delivering the final blow. This relentless barrage of attacks is similar to the attacks he launches against the Beast Titan.
Levi had already shown he is on par with someone with the Power of a Titan. He was able to severely injure Annie, the Female Titan, moving so fast while not allowing her to use hardening ability.
Levi was able to successfully rescue Eren from Annie but failed to finish her off after spraining his ankle from saving Mikasa.
Background of Levi vs Beast Titan Fight
The fight starts with Beast Titan and his titans facing Levi, Erwin, and the rest of the scouts. The Beast Titan throws a barrage of stones at the scouts, eliminating most of them and crushing houses.
Erwin and Levi move the scouts at the Wall’s base to take cover. Beast Titan continues his assault and throws more stones, which leads to more casualties. Levi, Erwin, and the rest of the scouts have no where to retreat and the situation is bleak.
Erwin suggests a counter-attack that would cost his life as well as the lives of the remaining scouts. The plan is to have Erwin and the scouts lead a suicide charge and distract the Beast Titan with their flares while Levi uses the smoke and diversion to take down the titans around Beast Titan. Then Levi will defeat the Beast Titan one on one.
Erwin gives an incredible speech to the scouts, convincing them that it is better to die fighting than be killed while hiding from flying rocks, and leads the charge towards the Beast Titan through the storm of rocks.
As the soldiers rush towards the Beast Titan, he sees them as pitiful and not learning from the mistakes of history. He gets worked up at the lengths the soldiers will go through and then promptly calms down when he realizes he’s like his father.
Instead, the Beast Titan tries to enjoy killing the soldiers as they charge at him.
Beast Titan successfully wipes out all of the soldiers while enjoying how he was able to change his throwing style to get rid of them. Beast Titan sees killing the soldiers as a sport.
Levi is able to kill the titans surrounding the Beast Titan without him noticing as the terrain is covered in smoke. Levi uses the hooks to grab onto him and an epic showdown ensues.
Beast Titan vs Levi
Levi attacks the Beast Titan and he does what he does best. Levi manages to slice his entire arm in a flash. After, Beast Titan recalls that Reiner had warned him of a soldier that he needed to be careful of and that was Captain Levi.
When Beast Titan realizes his arm is cut, Levi is behind him. When Beast Titan realizes Levi is behind him, he loses his eyes. By the time he realizes he can’t see, Levi has cut his tendons. By the time he processes that something has happened to his legs, Levi is coming from above, leaving him no time to defend or harden. Levi goes for the neck and manages to slice Beast Titan’s entire hand on his way.
This battle sequence is extremely detailed. For example, the gas from the ODM gear switches from left to right so Levi could acrobatically maneuver in a way that allows him to slice the Beast Titan’s hand off.
Levi is one step ahead of the Beast Titan the entire time and completely manages to overpower him. He then reminds him of how much fun he was having earlier and tells him “Lets have fun”. Levi completely slashes Beast Titan’s neck area and removes Zeke Yeager from the neck.
While Zeke is screaming in agony, Levi puts his sword in his mouth and tells him to have manners while he asks questions.
Levi doesn’t kill Zeke because he hopes he can inject the serum into someone and make them a titan. This would allow the titan to steal the Beast Titan’s power from Zeke when he eats him.
However, before Levi does this, the Cart Titan (Beast Titan’s ally) snatches Zeke in its mouth and runs off while Zeke orders the remaining Titans to attack Levi.
It’s very satisfying to see the Beast Titan get diced up considering how much enjoyment he was having by killing the Survey Corps like a game.
Aftermath of Levi vs Beast Titan Fight
Zeke, while resting on top of the Cart Titan, manages to flee and head towards Eren. He sees Eren and realizes that he’s Eren Yeager. He tells him he looks nothing like his father. He also tells them that both have been victims of his father Grisha Yeager and that he’ll rescue him soon.
Levi manages to dispose of all the titans the Beast Titan sent for him and he stands on top of the wall with the intention to kill Beast Titan and fulfill his promise to Erwin and the scouts.
Zeke is surprised to see Levi chase him this far and instantly flees with Cart Titan in fear. Levi uses his remaining gas to reach Eren and asks him to give him his ODM gear so he can pursue Cart Titan and Beast Titan. However, they managed to escape with the injured Reiner.
Conclusion
Levi shows why he should be feared and respected by completely dominating the Beast Titan. Seeing Levi annihilate the Beast Titan, who was very arrogant, is very satisfying.
Manga readers patiently waited for years for this scene to get animated and it looks like it was worth the wait. The fight between Levi and the Beast was hands down a dazzling, breathtaking piece of animated work.
Attack On Titan Season 3 part 2 is the best arc thus far. There were plenty of epic action and some of the biggest questions get answered.
Levi vs Beast Titan was the highlight of Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2.
